There’s always going to be risks. It’s impossible to be completely risk-averse. Because of this, carers need to be smart when it comes to managing that risk. This course enables carers to understand the nature of risk and to develop knowledge and confidence to assess and manage the risks that are an inevitable part of their work.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand what we mean by ‘safer care’
  2. To understand the legal framework and practice procedures underpinning safer care
  3. To achieve a greater understanding of the need to balance risk with gains for the child’s developmental experience
  4. To understand the need for a clear and up to date safer care policy
  5. To know the difference between an allegation, a complaint, and a serious concern
  6. To gain an understanding of some of the situations, behaviours, and conduct that could lead to an allegation and investigation
  7. To develop practical ways of improving safe caring, in order to minimise the risk of allegations being made

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.

Upon booking this course, we will discuss the learning objectives and outcomes you wish to achieve based on the young people in your care.
