All children and young people have the right to go about their daily lives without the fear of being bullied. Bullying can cause a high level of distress and affect well-being, behaviour, and social development. Children and young people exhibiting bullying behaviour need to be held accountable for their actions by being given opportunities to learn about its impact on others, to make efforts to repair the damage caused, and to change their behaviour.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  1. To understand the different forms of bullying
  2. To understand the impact bullying can have on the individual
  3. To understand how best to support an individual who is the victim of bullying
  4. To be aware of the signs and symptoms of bullying
  5. To know how to identify bullying hotspots within the home and community
  6. To know how to implement appropriate measures and the importance of recording and reporting to combat further incidents in line with the children’s home regulations framework
