This course is aimed at carers who work with young people who suffer from epilepsy. Through this course, learners will gain knowledge on the primary effects of epilepsy and the importance of supporting young people to take medication as directed by their doctor.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  1. To know what epilepsy is and how it is caused
  2. To be able to recognise at least three types of seizure
  3. To know how to safely care for someone having a seizure
  4. To know what documentation is required following a seizure

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
