This course approaches equality and diversity through the lens of young people and their understanding of difference. Learners will leave this course better able to respond to signs of discrimination, prejudice, and possible social exclusion that may have been experienced or may be perpetrated by children in their care.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  1. To explore what makes children feel different and recognise the impact of unconscious bias and stereotyping on how they see themselves and others
  2. To demonstrate an increased awareness of the impact of abuse on young people who identify with minority groups
  3. To explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours – and the strategies they can use to foster resilience and self-esteem
  4. To respond to discriminatory behaviour in young people in a positive way

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.

Upon booking this course, we will discuss the learning objectives and outcomes you wish to achieve based on the young people in your care.

We also have an advanced version, which is specifically for designated individuals or seniors.

Should you wish to discuss your needs before making a booking, please call 0800 774 7874.
